Care for your skin in the bath or shower
Bathing is an essential component of good hygiene. However, most people focus on just the skin of the face when it comes to skincare regime.
The first rule to healthy skin is to keep your skin clean, and care for your skin starts in the bath or shower. Bathing promotes skin renewal by gently polishing and stimulating your skin.
How does the caress of your skin feel? Is it like the rough surface of sandpaper or the soft plush of velvet? Unless you have a lifetime supply of baby skin, you will need to practice the following care for your skin in the bath or shower.
How to care for your skin in the bath or shower
Watch the water temperature. Hot bath is relaxing but it will strip the moisture and oils off your skin, leaving it parched, dry, and scaly. What’s more, hot water makes your hair frizzy and dry. Use warm water. Limit your bath to 15 minutes at the most.
Do not over wash. Hot water and heavy soaps drain precious oils from your skin. Wash your face only twice a day with any mild cleansers and use very little soap on your body when you bath or shower. Skip the bubble bath, which strips the skin off its natural oil.
Choose the right cleanser. A detergent-free, natural skin cleanser lifts impurities from your skin. If possible, use organic products for deep pore cleanser, toner, detoxifier, and makeup remover.
Exfoliate. The surface layer of dead skin is rough to the touch. Exfoliation makes skin glow, accelerates cell turnover, improves the color, tone and skin texture, and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Use exfoliation towels or AHA cleanser, daily for the body and once a week for the face.
Do not over-exfoliate. Too much exfoliation robs your pores of softening oil. Use light pressure to prevent irritation. Do not exfoliate around the eye area and private parts.
Shave correctly. Shave in the direction of your hair growth. Always use moisturizing shaving cream. Choose shaving creams with aloe and essential oils. A hair conditioner is a wise substitute to shaving creams for that close, nick-free shave, smooth and supple.
Rinse well. Residues clog skin pores, and leave your skin dry, tight, and uncomfortable.
Pat Dry. Dry gently, patting the water off your skin instead of rubbing your skin dry. By patting dry, the skin retains more of the moisture that you are going to seal with body moisturizer.
Moisturize. Apply moisturizer from head to toe after you step out of the shower to lock in that thin film of moisture and keep you dewy soft all day. Moisturize according to skin type. Individuals with oily skin do not need the heavy oil in moisturizers. People with dry, sensitive skin should consider using thicker lotions-60% grease and 40% water-that are less irritating to sensitive skin.
Remember that your skin needs re-hydration every after bath or shower. Body creams and lotions protect the body from dryness, itchiness, red blotches, painful cracks, rashes, acne, and other irritations. Follow up with sunscreen. Remember, to nourish and pamper your skin. You will be happy when you collect the benefits.

Natural Skin Care for Your Baby
Natural Skin Care for Your Baby
A surprising number of mothers will buy expensive lotions and soaps for their sensitive skins, and yet bathe and shampoo their baby in cheaper, chemical-ridden products.
Even those moms who believe they are being very careful about the products they use on their baby are likely not being careful enough.
An article in Clinical Pediatrics reports that over three out of four infants suffer rashes within the first few months of births. Sadly, the reason for such frequent breakouts appears to be the skin care products parents use to keep their babies’ skin moisturized. A baby’s skin, like all organs, is not fully developed and isn’t as effective a barrier against toxic substances. Natural skin care products are much, much safer than the chemical-heavy conventional ones.
The Danger of Over-The-Counter Products
Many products supposedly designed for infants’ sensitive skin are the same harsh cleansers for adults, just put in a cute package with a higher price. Reading labels to see what is really in the bottle is even more critical for your baby than for yourself.
Many bubble baths destroy beneficial bacteria on the baby’s skin. In fact the problem is so bad that infant bubble bath carries an FDA warning against excessive bathing. These products often contain known carcinogens and irritants such as formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane.
Shampoos are no better. Ingredients to avoid include quaternium 15, imidazolidinyl urea, and parabens. Of course you should also stay away from artificial colors and fragrances.
Baby powders are one of the most common treatments for diaper rash. Many moms use cornstarch, and treat rash with whipped-up egg white that’s allowed to dry and form a protective barrier.
Lotions and oils that contain petrochemicals, artificial colors, or artificial fragrances should never be used on a baby.
Natural Skin Care Products
Although most of the skin problems that babies face are due to dangerous ingredients in mass-produced skin care products, this is not the only concern. Even organic skin care products can cause problems if used excessively.
During the first year, babies do not need to be bathed frequently or even at all. An occasional wipe of the genitals and buttocks with a damp cloth is usually all that is needed. If a bath is needed, a small amount of warm water should suffice. Babies don’t sweat like children and adults so don’t need soap most of the time. If necessary, use a mild soap containing palm, coconut, or olive oil and use as little as possible. Never use antibacterial soap.
Shampoo is also seldom, if ever, needed during the first year. If needed, use a very mild organic shampoo.
Lotions that contain soothing or healing natural skin care ingredients such as chamomile or aloe can be beneficial. They moisturize well and a gentle massage can help a fussy baby sleep.

First Care for Baby’s Teeth
First Care for Baby’s Teeth
Good habits are most easily established young. If you want to save a lot of money on dentist visits and spare your child the pain of tooth decay, you will start them very young in the habit of taking care of their mouths. Brushing new teeth should become as routine as taking baths and washing hands.
First teeth begin erupting when a baby is between three and six months. Once or twice a day you can clean your babies gum ridges with a finger covered in a clean baby washcloth. A baby washcloth is better than an ordinary one because it is thinner and will be less material to cause your baby to gag.
When baby is starting on their first solid foods around the age of six months, you can follow up with sips of water. Drinking water is a good way to clean out a mouth, and it is also a great opportunity to begin to transition a child to drinking from a cup. Even if you plan to breastfeed your child into their toddler years, your child can still be introduced to water in a cup during meals of solid foods. If the drinking water in your home does not have fluoride you should consider a fluoride supplement for your child between the ages of 6 months and 16 years.
Once you have a few teeth in their mouth to brush, you can switch from the washcloth to a child’s or toddler’s toothbrush. Brush gently when you cannot avoid the gum area. You can do without the toothpaste until they are old enough to spit it out, which is around the age of three. There are also toddler toothpastes available to buy which are safe for children to swallow. If the family toothpaste is too strong in flavor for the child you can try a children’s toothpaste or milder-flavored toothpaste without artificial sweeteners that can be found in many health food stores.
You will probably need to give a large amount of supervision in the teeth brushing until a child is seven or eight years old. Before then you can let the child take the toothbrush in hand and try it themselves, but many children have difficulty with the up and down motion needed to clean teeth along the gum line. Check after they have brushed, make a visual spot check and follow up with the brush when food can be seen along the gum line or stuck in molars.
When children’s teeth first come in, there are usually plenty of spaces around them. As the teeth and especially the molars begin to touch, flossing needs to become an important part of the program. Parents will probably need to handle the floss until a child is seven or eight years old, but after that a child should be able to do it themselves using flossers. A flosser is usually easier than working with floss on a spool. A flosser is a U-shaped piece of plastic with a little floss strung between the open ends of the U.
Children should be flossing their teeth for about two minutes a session at least twice a day. One way to help a child brush long enough is to have a two-minute egg timer by the sink. Another way is to have a tradition of brushing one’s teeth for the length it takes to hum a certain song that is long enough.
Most of the prevention of tooth decay can be handled at home by the parents. However, any time one suspects dental problems in your baby or young child, see the dentist or speak to the pediatrician. Regular checkups with a dentist can begin around the age of three years.

Are Baby Dwarf Hamsters Easy To Take Care Of?
Are Baby Dwarf Hamsters Easy To Take Care Of?
Dwarf Hamsters can give birth to around ten babies per litter after completing a gestational period that lasts 18-20 days. Typically, the standard litter size of a Dwarf Hamster is only 5 to 6 babies. Before you make the decision to breed Dwarf Hamsters, you must have everything well planned to deal with the litter when your hamster mother gives birth. It is recommended that owners conduct plenty of research about the breeding process so that they can raise the pups successfully, if you just let it happen you are in for a big shock, and you may endanger the litter.
For the first 10 days after their birth, baby Dwarf Hamsters must stay with their mother. You should not have any close contact with them whatsoever, if your scent gets on them the mother will kill them, it is also not advisable to transfer them to a different cage. After four days, the baby Dwarf Hamsters will have some color, and they will get their fur after seven days. When they are on their tenth day, the babies will begin to open their eyes, crawl and reach the water bottle. During this time you can start holding them for short periods of time. Sometimes mothers are over-protective of their little ones, so before grabbing them observe their mother’s reaction first. Baby Dwarf Hamsters must be handled with exceptional care, because they are very restless and when you do not hold them properly they may possibly be injured by falling from your grip.
Once they are more than 10 days old you can start taming the babies by handling them more frequently, offer them treats of solid food as they start to eat regularly around the two week mark. You can give them servings of oats, oatmeal, wheat germ or small birdseeds. Once they are about three weeks old, the baby Dwarf Hamsters can eat fresh food with a mixture of lab blocks. Your pets will grow much faster and healthier when you feed them with small grains, something many experienced owners recommend. Slices of cucumber and red apple can also be included in your baby hamsters’ diet to promote their growth.
Eventually when the babies are able to find other ways to feed themselves, their mother will nurse them less often. They will be completely weaned after four weeks. You should also transfer them, grouped by sex, to their corresponding cages, because leaving the male baby any longer with his mother will result in the mother getting pregnant again. If this happens, the babies should be removed from their original cage as their mother will give birth to another litter after 18 to 20 days. This is obviously going to leave you with a lot of new baby hamsters, so avoid unnecessary inbred pregnancy, and separate male and female babies, and be prepared with two other cages in advance.
Once they are transferred to their corresponding cages, be sure to clean their houses at least once a week. However, if you have more babies in one cage, you need to clean it frequently because a crowded cage can get dirtier faster. It is essential to check on the health of the baby hamsters on a regular basis. Ensure that they are all receiving enough food and water and they are not injured from fights with their litter mates. Once they are four weeks old, you can sell them or give them away.

Taking care of your baby’s feet
Taking care of your baby’s feet
It’s not always about getting the best shoes for your babies. Baby shoes play an essential role in a baby’s growth but taking care of your baby’s feet is also crucial.
A baby’s feet is delicate and needs special attention especially in knowing when something’s just not right. Here are a few tips in knowing them right away:
Any redness or rough patches appearing between your baby’s toes, under the ankle bone or under the foot may be signs of Athlete’s foot. Consult a doctor immediately as a remedy to this situation.
Inappropriate shoes could lead to red marks or blisters at the back of a baby’s feet or on top of the toes. Replace the shoes right away and make sure to buy the right shoes. Infant shoes need to be soft and gentle to support the baby’s feet. Toddler shoes should be soft but strong enough to support your child as he tries his luck in walking.
Always check out your child’s nails since they speak a lot about a child’s health. Check for the shape, flexibility, color, etc. Cut the nails in a straight and square shape. You also need to brush them during bath time. To make sure no damage is done to your child’s nails, make sure to provide kids shoes that are the correct size and length to avoid irritation or nail crushing. Follow the rule in choosing any baby products: Stay away from shoes made from synthetic materials because they become sweaty and does not allow your kid’s feet to breathe. Always change your child’s socks and make sure he wears a new one every day.
Your child’s toes should be properly formed. It should be straight, does not appear like being it was being flipped backwards and in line with the foot.
If there’s anything weird and out of the ordinary going on in your kid’s feet, always consult the doctor for faster relief.
