Bathing a baby is again the most critical part of the mother as the body of baby is so small and tender.

During the initial days, the child may refuse to take a bath but eventually mother and baby both can make this activity a real fun by adapting some safety tips.

Bathing a baby during the first one to two weeks of her life is usually avoided until the umbilical stump falls off.

These areas must be kept dry to heal in reasonable amount of time and to prevent infection from setting in. During the first ten days of baby’s life, try to give sponge bath your newborn with a moistened washcloth.

After having a sponge bath, wipe off your baby’s face and hands and specially the genital area thoroughly each time you change their diaper. Once the umbilical falls off, you can give a tub bath to the baby instead of sponge bath.

Some things that you must keep ready during giving a bath the bath to the baby are:

Soft towel.
Soft wash cloth.
A diaper
Clothing.
Mild soap and shampoo.
